Food from the lab
In the future new technical processes are expected to provide us with the perfect food. Nutricious, healthy, lasting longer and even more environmentally.
More and more people around the world want to eat meat. Meat production, however, is harmful to the climate and the environment. Also, animals have to die. In vitro meat could change all that. The term denotes meat that is grown from animal cells in a lab. So far, in vitro meat comes only in small quantities and in the form of ground meat; steaks are still too complicated to produce. The nutrient fluid poses the greatest problem as calves are still being killed for its production. Researchers are searching for other options.
In the future different technical processes are expected to provide us with the perfect food. But at the cost of changing our notions about what we eat and how we produce and prepare it.
