“Connect utopian visions with real life”
Dr. Stefan Brandt is the new Director of the Futurium and will take over the conceptual leadership of the institution.
Starting today, Dr. Stefan Brandt is the new Director of the Futurium. “We are creating a unique place for interdisciplinary and multi-institutional work right in the heart of Berlin. For me, with my experience in arts, music, science, business, and museum management, it is a dream-come-true to be able to work here”, Dr. Brandt explains. Most recently, he worked as Managing Director and Member of the Board of the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
Two questions connect the present with the future: How do we want to live? What are we willing to invest for a desirable future? – The core mission of the Futurium is awakening interest in the future and a desire to help shape the future. As Director, Stefan Brandt wants to strengthen the interdisciplinary approach of the institution and focus on cooperation and participation: “I look forward to working with a highly motivated team and exchanging ideas with the high-caliber partners of the Futurium from politics, science, foundations, and business. In a world in which fears about the future seem to be gaining ground quickly, the Futurium offers an opportunity to take a differentiated look.” His goals for the exhibition, event, and experimental forum is to “dare to be imaginative without being naïve – opening space for visions without sacrificing the detailed study of actual developments – to show utopian visions without losing touch with real life.”
Together with the Commercial Managing Director, Nicole Schneider, Dr. Brandt forms the Executive Board of the Futurium gGmbH. “In the last few months, we have driven the exhibit and participation concept of the institution, made is accessible to new ideas, and introduced the Futurium to the visitors of numerous events – most recently CeBIT”, so Schneider. “I look forward to working with Dr. Brandt to develop the Futurium into a vivid place for dialogue about the future.”
